I wrote this piece for an On the Premises mini-contest. It didn’t win, but I like how it turned out, so I wanted to share it with you here.
The rules of the contest were: 30-50 words, and one must be “zebra”. Pretty simple, right?
How would you improve on this poem? If you have any ideas, share them in the comments.
Got any cool facts about Zebra? Sneak them in as well.
I’m a fan of On the Premises. The winners of their last contest be published tomorrow. You should check them out.
– John
Nothing I made her was flawless, but I threw myself into the work. Like Poseidon, I tried again and again.
A giraffe.
A donkey.
A zebra.
But, I’m not a god. How could she ever love me?
Always alone, the craft must be enough.
It is.
